Created in 2013 for an exhibition in Lugano, Switzerland, Sergio Mora’s Children of the Revolution revisits Liberty Leading the People, the seminal painting by Eugène Delacroix commemorating the French Revolution. In this version, named after the song by British glam rock group, T. Rex, a smiling Marianne sports tattoos, holds a bunch of balloons and has a round, explosive head. She is accompanied by characters from the Addams Family, caterpillar-like creatures and a white rabbit, all of whom inhabit an ice-cream landscape used to explore the interplay of basic colours against white. “I love taking things out of their context. That’s what surrealism does,” says the artist, whose characteristic style and humour are perfectly illustrated in this full colour photogravure print, developed exclusively for Limited by SOLO.
Limited by Solo wishes to see its art pieces travelling around the world and getting to your door in the quickest and safest way.
