Meditative, impatient or just bored? Fingers Mk III is a life-size cast of the artist’s hand, the palm replaced by a battery-powered mechanism which enables the fingers to tap, rhythmically and continuously, on any flat surface. Created by Nik Ramage, who describes himself as a sculptor of useless mechanical machines, Fingers started out as a one-off piece in 2003. The current version, Fingers Mk III, is a numbered edition cast in iron, a small-scale kinetic sculpture with a life of its own.
