A 'garden of earthly delights' with a wicked spirit. A strange scenery, where dollhouses are turned into overcrowded 'wunderkammer' pieces and popular icons dance with ghosts: children dressed as animals, hybrid creatures, a frightened Guizmo or a Werewolf who surprises us behind a roof. Behind the Doors invites us to enter the fantasy universe of Amandine Urruty. A bitter-sweet glimpse of a mental carnival. Playing with the balance between an elegant and ambivalent baroque style, this artwork is an excellent example of the magical narrative of her renowned black and white illustrations.
